What's in a name?

As my first post to this blog, I'd like to offer a brief introduction.  I'm doing this because I just had my first flight in 3 years, last week.  It was very upsetting to say the least.  This has bothered me since it all began almost 10 years ago, but now I decided it's finally time to do something about it.  I hope this helps in some way.

So, what's in a name?  The URL is "Fear and Flying" which happens to be the name of George Carlin's airport security rant.  In it, he talks about how ludicrous it is ban certain things.  After all, what about a guy with really big hands?  Hence, the name of this blog!

If you haven't read it or heard it, the link is below.  I recommend the video, as Carlin had a great voice.  Note, you can skip ahead to about 50 seconds to get to the start of the airline stuff.

Consider that he made this rant *before* the events of 2001.  I leave the implications up to you to think about.  Given that, there are few 'errors' if you will, as things have changed.  All in all, the basic concepts remain the same.  So, consider that rant the foundation of this blog.  More to come!

Thanks,
Michael
